Tour Dole Pineapple Plantation using a mobility scooter!
Another can’t miss attraction while on your family vacation in Hawaii is the popular Dole Plantation. Yes, you can use a mobility scooter or power wheelchair to tour this popular destination in Oahu.
Getting to the Dole Plantation is easy; it’s a short 30 minute ride from Waikiki or about 20 minutes from Ko’Olina during non-rush hour times. Travel halfway up to Oahu’s famous North Shore and visit this super cool place. You can roam the property and ride a mobility scooter, motorized wheelchair throughout the entire grounds and onto the Pineapple Express Train to see the gardens which include many varieties of pineapples. The world’s largest maze is accessible with a motorized scooter or power wheelchair but it is not paved so it is difficult to propel or push a manual wheelchair so it is not recommended without a powered mobility product.
There are pineapple demonstrations hourly which included tips on identifying a mature ready-to-eat pineapple; how to cut and slice them and of course everyone gets to taste their delicious pineapple free of charge.
The large gift shop has hundreds of pineapple delicacies, pineapple featured gift items and souvenirs, unique jewelry, a Christmas ornament sections with customizable ornaments done in minutes and a nice, reasonably priced cafeteria food court, Plantation Grille, with tables outside on the patio, covered and uncovered. Don’t miss their excellent delicious “Dole Whip” which is a version of a pineapple smoothie! The food is really yummy!
